How Home Security Monitoring Works & Monitoring Options For most activations we will call the premises and ask for a pre-assigned password. If we receive the correct password, then we cancel the alarm. If there is no answer or if we do not receive the correct password we then dispatch to police. Under a police or fire panic signal, we dispatch immediately.
Standard Monitoring: Included in all package prices. (Standard Home Phone Line Required) This is the most common home security monitoring type. It uses your standard home phone line. During an alarm activation the alarm uses the phone line to contact our central station. 2 Way Voice Monitoring:
Additional fee required. (Standard Home Phone Line Required) This is only available on our GE Home Security
Systems and it requires a standard home phone line.
The best way to explain 2 way voice is to compare it to Onstar,
but for your home.
During an alarm activation our central station operator will speak
through the alarm panel to ask for your password and to listen to the
activity in the home. This
can be very useful during a home invasion or during medical emergency
where you can not reach a telephone to call for help.
This feature will work up to 75
feet away from the main keypad. Broadband IP Monitoring:
Additional fee required. (No Home Phone Line Required) We are on of the ONLY companies to offer broadband
home security monitoring.
This is the newest high tech monitoring available for GE home security
systems and it does NOT require a standard home phone line.
For this type of monitoring, you must have a high speed
internet connect with an open port on your router/hub.
The IP communicator is located in the main keypad and it comes
in a counter top model so that it will sit in the same room as the
router/hub. So, when
purchasing a system that has broadband monitoring consider the fact
that you will need a 2nd keypad or a keyfob.
This way you do not need to go to the room the router/hub is in
every time you leave and arrive home. Cellular Monitoring:
Additional fee required. (No Home Phone Line Required) Cellular monitoring is used
when a standard phone line or broadband connection is not available.
Service is available in most major cities, but is not available in all
areas. This uses a GSM
module to communicate with our central station.
